Overview

UGREEN and UGREEN NAS (UGREEN) are fast-growing Chinese consumer electronics brands based in Shenzhen, China, competing in a crowded global market. With no existing closed user group (CUG) programme in place, they were missing a significant opportunity to acquire and convert high-intent shoppers through targeted, gated offers. 

After seeing Gocertify's work with direct competitors in the space, UGREEN and UGREEN NAS partnered with us to launch a multi-region, multi-group verification programme across both their UGREEN and UGREEN NAS product lines.

Since going live, UGREEN has driven over $850,000 in sales from 6,500 verified shoppers, while preventing 2,250 fraudulent redemptions. All with full GDPR compliance and no code leakage. The programme is now live across the UK, EU and US, with further regions in the pipeline.

Background

Before partnering with Gocertify, UGREEN had no structured closed user group programme. UGREEN’s expansion into Western markets required GDPR compliance and robust fraud prevention, and like many Chinese brands scaling into Western markets, they were navigating a particular set of challenges:

  • No gated discount infrastructure. There was no mechanism to offer exclusive, verified discounts to specific audiences such as seniors or key workers, meaning they were either leaving these audiences unengaged or running open promotions that eroded margin.
  • Code leakage risk. Without a robust verification layer, any discount codes issued were vulnerable to being shared publicly, undermining the exclusivity and profitability of the offer.
  • Data and compliance concerns. Operating in EU and US markets meant GDPR compliance was non-negotiable. UGREEN needed confidence that any data captured from shoppers would be handled correctly, with proper consent mechanisms in place.

Strategy & Execution

Gocertify's approach was built around scale, flexibility, and giving UGREEN the infrastructure to run a sophisticated closed group programme across multiple markets.

  • Multi-region, multi-language launch: UGREEN launched simultaneously across the EU and US, with multiple languages managed under a single platform, giving central oversight without sacrificing local relevance. New regions continue to be added.
  • Multiple user groups: Four groups activated: Seniors (top-performing, especially during sales), Key Workers (including healthcare and military), Students (notably strong in the UK), and people with disabilities.
  • On-site Messaging (OSM): UGREEN use Gocertify's on-site messaging capability strategically, updating offers around key retail moments. Black Friday and Nurses Day are examples of events where they've activated tailored messaging to drive urgency and relevance for specific audiences.
  • Branding and user journey: The verification experience is fully branded to UGREEN's standards, an important requirement for a brand investing heavily in its consumer identity as it scales in Western markets.

We worked closely with UGREEN to ensure our tech embedded within their existing tech stack and met all of their compliance needs.

  • DataCapture with GDPR compliance: A key concern for UGREEN, as with many brands entering the EU market, was how to collect first-party data from shoppers without running into GDPR risk. Gocertify’s DataCapture ensures all data is opt-in and GDPR compliant, with explicit consent checkboxes and privacy statements. 
  • Unique code generation via Shopify (fraud prevention): Code leakage was a specific operational concern. Using Gocertify's Shopify integration, every verified shopper receives a unique, single-use discount code generated at the point of eligibility confirmation - eliminating the risk of codes being shared on voucher sites or social channels.
  • Advanced targeting: UGREEN requested more granular control over discount visibility (by SKU, collection, or price), advanced targeting for OSM placements, and improved SEO for discount pages.

Results

Since launching with Gocertify, UGREEN has delivered measurable results across the metrics that matter most for a scaling brand entering new markets:

  • Sales & Verifications: Over $850,000 in sales, 6,500 unique users captured globally since launch.
  • Conversion rates: Verified users convert at just under 20%, with seniors at 34% and students at 15% in the UK
  • Fraud prevention: 2,250 fraudulent verification attempts blocked.
  • Regions live: US, UK, DE, FR, CA, ES, AU, NL, IE, with dedicated NAS websites for each. The multi-region, multi-language architecture means UGREEN can continue adding markets without rebuilding the programme from scratch, in one platform.
  • Compliant first-party data: Every verification came with full consent, giving UGREEN a growing database of opted-in, segmented shoppers they can re-engage through future CRM activity without any GDPR exposure.
  • No code leakage: unique code generation via Shopify means UGREEN's offers have remained exclusive, protecting margin and brand positioning.
